BATHROOM SCALES

I am seeing fluctuations in weight. Why is this happening?
Every time a digital scale is moved it needs to be initialized and auto-calibrated. Initializing the scale resets the internal parts allowing the scale to find the correct “zero” weight and ensure accurate readings. Here is how to initialize any of our bathroom scales:

  1. Place the scale back on a hard, flat surface (see #2 below for optimal flooring surfaces).
  2. With one foot, press the platform of the scale so that numbers appear on the display. Once you see zeros or dashes remove your foot.
  3. Wait for the scale to turn off again.

  4. Step up onto the scale for a weight.
  5. Your scale is now calibrated.

Will my scale work on carpet or other soft flooring (i.e. linoleum or vinyl)?
EatSmart scales are engineered to provide maximum accuracy and will not provide accurate readings on carpeting. Linoleum, vinyl and other softer flooring can cause small variations in weight depending on how much cushion there is.  We suggest placing the scale on a hard, flat surface.  Optimal surfaces include ceramic or porcelain tile, hard wood or concrete.

Will moving my scale affect accuracy and dependability?
If possible, we recommend keeping your scale in the same position at all times (on a flat, hard surface). If you have to store it, you may have to recalibrate the scale to ensure accurate readings (see answer #1 under bathroom scales).

I am seeing weights in KG or ST. How do I switch the unit of measurement?
All EatSmart scales are designed to display Metric as well as Imperial units of measure (pounds and kilograms). Every scale has a switch on the underside of the scale to change the weight. If you cannot find it please refer to your manual or call EatSmart for support.

My scale displays ERR. What can I do?
If your scale displays an ERR message make sure that the scale is on a hard, flat surface. Take the batteries out of the scale for twenty seconds to reset the scale. Put the batteries back in and try to weigh yourself normally.  Repeat if necessary. If the problem persists call or email EatSmart.

My scale displays LO. What can I do?
The LO indicator means the batteries may have to be replaced. If you get this indicator a short time after installing new batteries please contact EatSmart for support.  Also check that the polarities on the batteries match the indicators.

My scale displays O_LD. What can I do?
This indicator typically signifies that the maximum weight of the scale has been exceeded. If you get this error message and you are not near the maximum weight please call EatSmart for support.

I just got my scale and it will not turn on. What can I do?
Check to make sure that all of the batteries are inserted and the polarities (+ and – ) are facing the correct way in the battery compartment. If you have access to an additional set of batteries try them in the scale. If this does not solve the problem please call or email EatSmart for support.

Do I have to “tap” on my scale to initialize it?
No, all EatSmart scales feature an our proprietary “Step-On” technology. This means that the scale is ready to be used just by stepping on the scale. If you store your scale between weighings, or having used it in awhile, you may need to recalibrate the scale again (see answer #1 under bathroom scales).

How do I program my body fat scale?
The easiest way to program your body fat scale is via the included manual. If you do not have a copy you can download one on the scale’s product page or watch the instruction video here for the Precision GetFit Digital Body Fat Scale.

Are there people for whom body fat scales are not appropriate?
People with pacemakers are advised not to use our body fat scales. Although there are no known health risks, this is a precaution that is advocated by many manufacturers of BIA.

KITCHEN SCALE

What is the accuracy of your kitchen scales?
All EatSmart digital scales are accurate to +-.1 ounces or less.  Please check the specifications on the individual models for greater detail.

My scale displays ERR. What can I do?
If your scale displays an ERR message make sure that the scale is on a hard, flat stable surface. Take the batteries out of the scale for twenty seconds to reset the scale. Put the batteries back in and try items normally. If the problem persists call or email EatSmart.

My scale displays LO. What can I do?
The LO indicator means the batteries may have to be replaced. If you get this indicator a short time after installing new batteries please contact EatSmart for support.

My scale displays UNST. What does this mean?
Your scale may be in an unstable environment. Please make sure your scale is on hard, even surface free of any vibration.

My scale displays oL. What can I do?
The oL indicator occurs when too much weight has been placed on the scale. Please remove weight to get a reading.

What measurement units do your kitchen scales display?
All EatSmart kitchen scales are designed to display Metric as well as Imperial Unit of Measures (grams and ounces). Please refer to each specific manual for more detailed information.
